Make Up For Ever HD Foundation (N123)

This was the first ever bottle of the Make Up For Ever HD Foundation I ever bought.  It was a bit too light for me so I bought another one (in shade 153) that I’ve already finished.  I mainly just used this one to mix with other foundations that needed to be lightened.

Regardless, I absolutely love this foundation.  It was the first foundation I ever bought that I had zero complaints about.  It’s feels light-weight, it has great coverage, and looks really natural.  I’ve applied it using a foundation brush, a stippling brush, and a Beauty Blender, and it looks great no matter what.

Would I repurchase?  Absolutely.

Sephora Daily Makeup Brush Cleaner

I use this to clean my makeup brushes only when I don’t have time to deep clean my makeup brushes before I use them again.  It’s easy to use and does a nice job of cleaning my brushes quickly, and doesn’t take too long to dry.

Would I repurchase?  I do have one more bottle of this to go through, but after that I think I’ll just try to do my best to deep clean my brushes whenever I need to.

Gillette Satin Care Shave Gel with Aloe Vera (Sensitive Skin)

I’ve made it a habit to shave my legs every time I’m in the shower.  That does mean that I’m often shaving my bare legs, but I do it anyway because it keeps me from having to worry about whether or not my legs are hairy.

This is the brand of shaving gel I use most often.  When I run out of shaving gel I usually just look around the house for an alternative (usually men’s shaving cream).  It’s a nice one, but I don’t notice any real difference when it comes to using different shaving gels or creams.

Would I repurchase?  Most likely.

Bath & Body Works Shea & Vitamin E Body Lotion (Japanese Cherry Blossom)

I included one of these in my last ‘Empties’ post.  I much prefer the scent of this one.  I really enjoyed using this.  I love the little size of the bottle.  It’s great for carrying around in your bag.

Would I repurchase?  Probably not.  I don’t usually purchase hand creams.  I just use whatever I find around my house.

Alien Eau De Parfum by Thierry Mugler

I got this little sample from Sephora.  It was nice, but not my favourite.  The scent is on the more powdery side, and I usually prefer flowery and/or fruity scents.

Would I repurchase?  No.

What beauty products have you used up this month?

The Look for Less: Benefit Sun Beam

The $32 CAD price tag for the Benefit Sun Beam can seem like a bit much for a highlighting product, so I’ve found a very inexpensive alternative.  The e.l.f. Shimmering Facial Whip in Golden Peach is practically identical and costs only $1!  I mean you can not go wrong.

Buy It or Deny It: Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation

Price: $58 CAD at Sephora

First off, 10 out of 10 for the packaging.  It’s beautiful, elegant, and it has a pump!  There are so many high-end foundations that don’t come with a pump and I can’t understand why.

This is the first water-based foundation I’ve tried, and I’m super impressed.  It’s a bit more runny than what I’m used to, but the formula feels very lightweight, and still has great coverage.  It has a natural finish, which I was a bit concerned about because I have combination-oily skin, but after setting it with powder and using makeup setting sprays it did not wear away at all.  I wore it for about 8 hours.

This is definitely one for my favourite foundations.  I can’t think of one negative thing to say about it at all– actually it has a weird fragrance, but it’s nothing that doesn’t go away after a while.

The Verdict: Buy It!

FYI: My shade is Golden Medium.
